A personal project with the hope to create a better mobile surf report. The hope is that by combining a weather API with a small niche social component, users will benefit from a merger of data and crowdsourced content.
A single page site to generate interest and explain the feature set of my mobile surf report product. The updated product relies on simple but functional utilities layered on top of on strong, vibrant imagery through via a series of transparent overlays. The responsive site design attempts to mirror this brand aesthetic.
The hope at the most basic level was to create a product framework that is truly device agnostic for content, yet device or platform aware for the user experience. The path we have taken is devise navigational paradigms, consumption sequences and touch behaviors based on the size of the form factor rather then to focus specifically on platform specific products.
Our goal was simple: We wanted to greatly simplify the exploration and consumption process. This applied to both what is new and published by our editorial team, as well as access to topics and sections sought after by our users. What we came up with is a multi panel display that separates browsing from consumptions into 2 simple but distinct views – a list or browse view and a consumption panel.

A comprehensive redesign that updates the online CBS News brand into a new mobile centric a shell worthy of it's history as well as to lay an elegant yet sturdy foundation for us to build on.
The original intent for the CBS News redesign was to create as a mobile first design. Thus the design framework was created to maximize discovery and consumption within 4" - 6" & 9" environments. The intent is to optimize the experience to the viewport rather then a platform. The end goal minimizes product variation between mobile web and native apps
