A new day

Tonight marked a week since I last spent time with my neighbor who was tragically killed along with his girlfriend in a car accident while traveling in Thailand. I spent this week really thinking about how fragile life is, and quickly it can end or circumstances can change.

Dennis & I were not especially close, but were more sort of neighborly buddies, who shared thoughts and ideas about our gardens, cars & travel while kicking the tires on our lawn mowers – Despite our lack of a long or deep friendship – It really put me in an introspective mood. One that has made me want to share with my extended group of pals how much I value each of you in a certain or special way. How much I love the folks who are closest to me – How much I adore my family, love my wife and little boy. Most importantly – To really live like it is not a dress rehearsal – we never know the duration of this gift of life – and can not always predict or control all that we experience – but it is up to us to see and enjoy the things that are wonderful in life with or without us… And that seeing these things and sharing them with the folks we care for most is the real gift.

Tell the folks who really matter, just how much they do – and then be sure to really live… Tomorrow is a new day.
